Sagres is known for its spectacular landscapes, from woodlands to farmland, estuaries and sand dunes, as well as the sea itself, supporting thousands of species of fauna and flora. In addition to being a great place for birdwatching, it is also the perfect location for hiking and cycling, with landscapes that are in themselves inspiring. Memmo Baleeira is a pristine getaway for guests. The brainchild of Portuguese hotelier and surfer Rodrigo Machaz has 144 rooms, each with views over either lush gardens or glittering Atlantic waters. Rooms are furnished simply in a mostly white palette, where the natural landscape takes centre stage and the blues from the ocean, for example, seep in through the panoramic windows to color the rooms instead.
