Design Hotels™ presents its autumn/winter issue of DIRECTIONS magazine, which explores diverse expressions of community. Through essays, report and interviews, nine destinations with remarkable projects and ideas of community are introduced. These range from the abstract, such as collective consciousness and cultural integration, to actual structures like the Metropol Parasol in Seville and Dubai’s new Pentominium.

Through DIRECTIONS, Design Hotels™ shares its philosophy and vision for integrating exceptional hospitality with future-based thinking. Each of the company’s member hotels is a one-of-a-kind creative concept and space. The Design Hotels™ brand reflects this individuality and unites them as a community of inspirational experiences.

Highlights of this issue:

World Intelligence. Trend Report - A contribution by The Future Laboratory on transcendental trends, as well as design and demographic news, from around the world.

Taipei. Movin’ on Up – Communal life goes vertical and luxurious in the skyscraper’s ever-higher, remixed version.

Johannesburg. Africa’s Big Apple – A study in urban renewal. South Africa’s largest metropolis is poised to become a global player.

London. Windows on the World – Multinationalism in the lobby or cultural integration in the outback: some hotel properties represent microcosms of a larger whole.

These and other stories about community are telling of the role that sustainability, architecture and design, cuisine, and culture play in global society. As part of the Design Hotels™’ vision for progressive hospitality, these topics will be further explored in the upcoming symposium for hospitality “Future Forum”. The annual event will next be held in Barcelona, 27 September 2007.

Also Inside: The Hotel Locator
The “Locator” is a separate section featuring all current members of Design Hotels™. Organised geographically, the Locator is a compact and easy reference tool. Each hotel is included with images, text, rates and the website address for more details and the possibility to book online.
