DON’T FORGET THE POPCORN!
DESIGN HOTELS LAUNCHES PART ONE OF MOVIE EXTRAVAGANZA
Berlin, September 15, 2010 – Movie buffs and film fanatics take note – Design Hotels™ launches the first part of its promotion, ‘Don’t Forget the Popcorn’, a six-month program of movie magic in collaboration with MUBI, the leading online cinematheque, and Leica, the prestigious camera company. In part one contestants can vote for their favorite movie scene in a hotel and will receive a voucher to watch one movie for free on MUBI. They will also be entered in to a draw to win free hotel nights, books, movies, and a host of fantastic prizes! Visitors to (http://www.designhotels.com/popcorn) can take their pick from a selection of iconic films like The Shining and Psycho, or suggest their own. On September 27 the top five scenes will be announced, as well as the prize winners.
In part two of the contest a special ‘Popcorn rate’ of 15% off the Best Available Rate will be available at participating hotels, including Hotel Sezz in Paris, Argentario Golf Resort in Italy, Semiramis in Greece and Hillside Su in Turkey. The rate is bookable from September 21 until November 15 (for arrivals from November 1 through March 31). Guests who book this rate can also enjoy a complimentary film at the hotel on MUBI.
From September 27 to January 24 the campaign will enter part three. During this stage travel and cinema fans are invited to play director and take a photograph of themselves re-enacting one of the movie scenes. All images received will be judged by a surprise celebrity jury. The top images chosen will be exhibited at a member of Design Hotels™ in Berlin during the 2011 Berlinale International Film Festival in February. Winners will also be eligible for prizes, including hotel vouchers at The Dolder Grand in Zurich and Alila Villas Soori in Bali; a Playstation 3 and some extra special surprises!
