Berlin, 23 October 2007 – The Design Hotels™ architecture and design symposium „Future Forum“ brought together an international roster of 12 architects, designers and trend experts to present and explore futuristic concepts for hospitality. The annual event was held in Barcelona on 27 September and was the largest to date, hosting over 200 attendees including hoteliers, journalists, investors, hotel developers and Design Hotels™ partner brands.
The event kicked off with a three hour Trend Briefing by The Future Laboratory followed by individual “Laboratories” to further examine the topics of Space, Art & Culture, Cuisine and Style. Each speaker addressed different aspects of innovation and rethinking the basics. The outcome was a call to creativity and embracing futuristic concepts that range from eco-friendly synthetic materials to forms of slow travel and interactive architecture.
Participants experienced the “New Shelter” theme of the event through a provocative design concept. The raw urban venue space of Top Studios was transformed into five communal spaces, including a show kitchen, all outfitted with emotional lighting concepts by Zumtobel.
A summary of the event will be available at www.designhotels.com/futureforum. The Design Hotels™ future blog will also contain summaries of the presentations and video podcasts will be released successively over the coming weeks. This interactive site was conceived as a forum for extending the relationships with key speakers, and is an invitation for a larger audience to participate in and be inspired by forward thinking projects. http://futureblog.designhotels.com/
