| design hotels™ teams up with renowned Designers at Milan´s Salone del Mobile |
 |
Werner Aisslinger, designer of the Hotel Daniel, and Marcel Wanders, designer of Lute Suites, will be exhibitors at the annual furniture fair in Milan taking place 18-23 April. In partnership with design hotels™, Werner Aisslinger and LoftCube GmbH are presenting the new model of the LoftCube, a mobile unit for modern living. Marcel Wanders, famed for his crochet chair, will be showing a world of personal editions and unique pieces.
design hotels™ will join Werner Aisslinger and LoftCube GmbH in Milan for the first stop on the LoftCube 2007 Style Tour. The LoftCube is a spectacular mobile loft which fuses futuristic architecture with aesthetic, practical design. The 39 and 55 square metre units are outfitted with modular components to create individual experiences for living, working or entertaining. With its panoramic windows, the LoftCube embraces the world outside and each can be customized to fit its setting and use. A business man has a LoftCube office on a London rooftop, the owner of a modelling agency has set hers on a Californian beach, an actress uses one as her luxury trailer, and a Canadian landowner has set his afloat on a lake. As Aisslinger states: “Successful architecture is a fusion of light, view, proximity and individuality.”
Aisslinger makes use of the latest technology and has helped introduce new materials and techniques to the world of product design. Since 1993 he has his own studio and his clients include Cappellini, Vitra, Zanotta and Interlübke. In 2005, Aisslinger completed the Hotel Daniel, a member of design hotels™ in Graz where his modular vision was extended to both the façade and interiors. Hotel Daniel also plans to install a LoftCube on the roof of its seven-storey building later this year.
Marcel Wanders, the celebrated designer of Lute Suites and products for labels worldwide will showcase his first solo exhibition at the Milan fair. By teaming up once again with Peter Lute, acclaimed chef and owner of the eponymous restaurant and all-suites hotel, the exhibition will get off to a glamorous start. The Dutch hospitality and design pioneers have invited 400 guests to preview the much anticipated show by Wanders and indulge in culinary treats by Lute. Guests of the event will each be presented with a surprise gift, which is the result of a collaborative effort between Marcel Wanders and design hotels™.
Marcel Wanders studio in Amsterdam designs products and interiors for the best international labels, including Moooi (where Wanders is Art Director and founder), Flos, Kartell, B&B Italia, Moroso, Cappellini, Bisazza, Droog Design and Boffi. For the past few years, Marcel Wanders has also been designing interior concepts, such as the new Villa Moda store in Bahrain, to be opened this year, the Dutch Pavilion at the World Expo in Hannover, and Lute Suites which opened in 2005.
